Halloween Safety Tips for Drivers

With all the fun of parties and trick-or-treating, it can be easy to forget that Halloween also brings a higher number of accidents. Drivers in Mt. Sterling need to be especially cautious while out and about this Halloween.

Here are some helpful safe driving tips for you to keep in mind:

  • Kids in darker costumes may be difficult to see. Be on the lookout for them.
  • Scan both sides of the street. Watch for children in yards, coming out of driveways, and crossing streets. Always give them the right of way.
  • Keep your headlights on so pedestrians can see you better.
  • You should slow down by at least 5 mph, especially in areas where children are apt to be present.
  • Watch out for cars stopped on the street that may be dropping off or picking up trick-or-treaters. Do not try to speed around them.
  • Drive sober and put away your phone.
