What Happened to the Four-Wheel Drive?

If you live through the work week so you can get out and do some adventure seeking on your off time, then keeping up with your four-wheel or all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle’s maintenance is a top priority.

The transfer case on an off-road vehicle houses the gears that enable you to switch from two to four-wheel drive. The chain engages the gears that are needed to move the vehicle’s traction from front to rear-wheel drive. Keeping it lubricated is a necessity for proper operation.

If you hear grinding or the gears don’t want to stay engaged, it may be time to have your vehicle serviced. It could be that the seals need replacing. Our service technicians at Mann Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Mt. Sterling in Mt. Sterling, KY are experienced in diagnosing the issues an off-road vehicle might encounter. We’d be happy to answer any questions and help get you back out on the road.
